Buying Guide
Key purchase considerations help ensure you pick a bale spear that matches your equipment and workload:
- Load capacity: Choose based on bale size and frequency of use. Heavier bales require 3000-lb capacities, while lighter tasks can be handled with 1600-lb models.
- Shaft length and diameter: Longer shafts improve bale penetration; larger diameters increase rigidity but may affect fit in tight spaces.
- Stabilizers: Stabilizer spears or chains help prevent bale shifting and tipping, especially on uneven terrain or during transport.
- Material and durability: Premium spring steel with powder coating resists bending and corrosion, extending attachment life in harsh environments.
- Compatibility: Ensure quick-attach compatibility with your skid steer or tractor model, including chain or wear plate requirements.
- Maintenance: Look for simple bolt-on components and corrosion protection to simplify installation and upkeep.
